Position Summary The Lead, Center Support for the Center for Data Sciences serves as a key strategic and operational leader in the development, submission, and management of complex research grants. The role supports the Scientific Research Office (SRO) and Research Development Office (RDO) through pre‑award proposal development, budget preparation, compliance coordination, and post‑award progress reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop strategic proposals aligned with funding announcements.
Assist SRO with project timelines, budget development, and detailed justifications.
Draft and proofread administrative portions of proposals.
Solicit and verify required documents from consortia and collaborators.
Identify and disseminate targeted funding opportunities.
Manage submission plans and coordinate Letters of Intent with PIs.
Prepare grant progress reports and final reports, ensure compliance with NIH policies.
Manage consortium agreements, subcontracts, and study section review dates.
Lead communications with PIs on project award timelines and approvals.
Supervise administrative staff, oversee workload distribution, and conduct performance evaluations.
Serve as liaison with external sponsors, collaborators, and institutional leadership.
Manage Center events and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Seven years of research administration experience, including grant proposal preparation and budgeting; two years of supervisory experience.
Skills: Strong analytical, time‑management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Office 365 or Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervisory oversight of administrative staff; indirect supervision of none.
Work Environment On‑site location in San Diego; requires standard office setting, exposure to low‑to‑moderate noise and temperature variations. Remote work from home is not applicable.
Physical Requirements Ability to sit, use a keyboard, read, and communicate both in person and over the telephone.
Location Must be willing to work onsite in San Diego.
Compensation Salary range $74,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience.
