US Navy Veteran & Founder, Raul@RGarciaGroup.com | 20+ Years in Nuclear, Semiconductors, Wireless, and Aerospace | I Help Engineers Find Their Next… The Systems/Project Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, integration, qualification/certification and management of COTS products and complex avionics systems and sub-systems from concept through delivery. This dual‑role position requires technical expertise in systems engineering and leadership skills necessary to drive project execution.
Job Responsibilities
Define and manage system‑level and requirements for COTS test equipment and avionics products (e.g., video frame grabbers, video converters, video switches, etc.)
Develop and refine system architectures supporting multiple video protocols and interfaces
Conduct trade studies, system modeling, and performance analysis to support design decisions.
Lead systems integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) activities across the development lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as ARINC 818, SMPTE, DO‑160, DO‑254, and MIL‑STDs.
Develop product documentation necessary to satisfy program source data requirements (technical specification, system interface control document (ICD), program development plans, technical manuals, etc.).
Develop product acceptance, design verification, qualification, and certification test strategies.
Develop project schedules and ensure resources/plans are aligned with technical scope and customer milestones.
Lead cross‑functional efforts involving hardware, firmware, software, and test teams to ensure on‑time delivery of avionics systems and subsystems.
Serve as the technical liaison between internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Monitor and report progress against key performance indicators, including risk, cost, and schedule.
Lead or participate in design and technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
Manage change control, documentation, and project artifacts in accordance with AS9100 and program standards.
Support proposal development, including technical write‑ups, and cost estimates.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems Engineering or closely related field of study.
5+ years of experience in aerospace systems or project engineering roles.
Demonstrated experience of system design integrating hardware, firmware, and software.
Demonstrated experience managing technical projects through the full lifecycle.
Familiarity with qualification/certification processes for DO‑160/MIL‑461/810 and DO‑254.
Familiarity with video standards (ARINC 818, HDMI, SDI, CVBS, etc.).
Background in avionics or aerospace electronics integration a plus.
Strong documentation, system architecture design, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident.
