Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is hiring a Propulsion Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer to join our Vehicle Engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, Florida.

The Propulsion Engineer will be a member of a team working a combination of tasks supporting Propulsion System Integration and Engine Performance. This includes working with related suppliers and disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Configuration Design, Survivability, System Test, Airframe, and Subsystems.

Responsibilities

Aircraft engine physical and functional integration for military aircraft

Propulsion System requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development

Interfacing with engine and related propulsion system suppliers

Propulsion System test planning, execution, and verification

Engine cycle performance and data analysis

General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and advanced techniques

Demonstrate the skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks

Innovate solutions to a variety of technical challenges of increasing scope and complexity

Basic Qualifications

Principal: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant experience

Sr. Principal: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience

Working knowledge of engine thermodynamic cycles (e.g., gas turbine, turbofan, turboprop engines)

Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Aerospace Engineering

Experience managing or interfacing with engine suppliers

Experience with requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development

Experience with aircraft engine physical and functional integration for military applications

Experience with NPSS gas turbine engine cycle performance and data analysis

Experience creating or running computer models using MATLAB, C++, Simulink, FORTRAN, or a similar program

Experience with CAD tools such as Siemens NX

Engine Ground Test and/or Flight Test support experience

SQL Database build, development, and version control experience

Experience operating within MBSE aircraft design environments like Amesim and Ansys ModelCen

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
