Construction Estimator – Multifamily and Commercial Construction We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator specializing in Multifamily and Commercial Construction for Renovations, TI‑Build Outs and New Construction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for estimating the costs of projects and creating budgets that guide our team’s construction efforts. They must possess a strong understanding of construction processes and materials and a keen eye for detail to accurately forecast future construction projects’ cost, size, and duration.
Responsibilities
Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Present prepared estimates by building up an itemized cost summary.
Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and engineers to gather detailed project information.
Oversee and coordinate the pre‑construction job duties such as design reviews and scheduling.
Create and present reports detailing project estimates to upper management.
Evaluate changes and review designs to ensure budget adherence.
Develop strategies to meet project goals, like setting work hours and ordering supplies.
Qualifications
Minimum 6 years experience as a Construction Estimator.
Extensive knowledge of Multifamily and Commercial construction processes.
Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
Strong math and analytical skills.
Advanced understanding of construction software for job costing, scheduling, estimating, and project management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to negotiate and communicate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with regulatory construction standards and health & safety regulations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to navigate construction job sites, including maneuvering in partially completed buildings, up and down stairs, and outdoor/indoor walking.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to various job sites as required.
