Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director and in collaboration with the Associate Chief of Ambulatory Nursing Practice, the Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory Practice within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, follows the MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics.

This role focuses on delivering individualized, high‑quality patient care while advancing the clinic’s core values.

Responsibilities

Clinical Judgment and Decision Making

Perform systematic patient and family assessment, record health data, and analyze recorded data to identify nursing problems.

Develop culturally competent plans of care, respecting patient/ family values and age‑appropriate considerations.

Administer medications including blood and blood products; monitor for acute changes and intervene appropriately.

Provide necessary ADL support, positioning, transporting, and equipment utilization.

Professional Relationship

Build professional relationships with physicians, nurses, other healthcare providers, and patients/families.

Educate patients and families about illnesses, treatment options, and preventive measures.

Communicate collaboratively across disciplines to ensure continuity of care.

Clinical Leadership

Adhere to unit policies, practice guidelines, and the ANA Code of Ethics.

Serve as a team member, teacher, and patient advocate within legal limits.

Maintain ACLS certification and comply with regulatory readiness requirements.

Clinical Scholarship

Apply evidence‑based practice and lifelong learning to improve quality of care.

Engage in professional development and clinical research activities.

Organizational Requirements

Maintain strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policy.

Incorporate Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.

Comply with all Lahey Clinic policies and behavioral expectations.

Demonstrate effective patient and colleague interactions, meeting and exceeding customer service standards.

Participate in departmental and inter‑departmental quality improvement activities and mandatory education.

Perform all other duties as needed to meet department requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.

BLS certification with the American Heart Association.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Demonstrate necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge for patient care per Nursing Policy and Procedures.

Exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Experience Acute care medical‑surgical experience.

Pay Range $37.00 – $95.37 per hour. Compensation is based on seniority, education, training, geographic location, and job responsibilities.

Actual pay may exceed the base rate with shifts, call, overtime, and other bonuses as permitted by law.

Additional Information All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
