The Opportunity
Driving better future mobility through LG’s VS (Vehicle component Solutions) Company, a leading provider of core automotive components. The role focuses on commercializing environmentally responsible automotive components and core solutions based on LG’s proprietary technologies.
Staff Development Engineer
This position requires technical experience in building cutting‑edge products and development expertise with a focus on manufacturing, high‑technology automotive products, LG and customer collaboration. You will develop projects, address technical requirements, and resolve issues, ensuring strength and innovation in LG’s automotive business.
Responsibilities
Lead project planning, status reporting, team engagement, risk visualization and mitigation.
Plan development and manage multiple feature milestones.
Identify and manage all project development quality during and after development.
Provide guidance to team members over short‑ to long‑term periods.
Manage OEM customer design requests, develop APQP, and manage third‑party solutions.
Resolve software and hardware issues and communicate with customers.
Release weekly development progress reports and communicate with customer engineers.
Communicate with LGE HQ cross‑functional teams, including program leads.
Support resolution of business, manufacturing, and technical issues.
Publish weekly reports on feature issues.
Provide cross‑functional support to Validation, Manufacturing, Procurement/Purchasing, Sales, Quality, and customers.
Review decisions related to function development with the Software/Hardware Project Lead.
Act as the main contact for customers.
Follow customer acceptance processes in addition to internal development processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree.
12+ years of automotive component development experience, or
15+ years of engineering experience developing or testing automotive components; or
18+ years of experience delivering high‑quality products or services to automotive companies.
Prior experience and/or knowledge of:
Managing multiple technical projects simultaneously while meeting cost, quality, and timing expectations.
Recognizing and mitigating technical and organizational challenges.
Leading and managing engagements with vehicle makers, collaborators, and third‑party software developers.
Planning and coordinating teams of people.
Vehicle infotainment, telematics, and vehicle interface technology products.
Automotive development processes or emerging technology services for industry players.
Product life cycle from ideation to design, prototyping, and production.
Working with distributed engineering teams, sales, quality, and customers.
Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
Desire to learn constantly and explore unfamiliar technologies.
Passion for technology and problem solving.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; transparency paramount.
Travel / Physical Requirements
Up to 30% travel, including out‑of‑state and international travel.
Ability to sit/drive and test in a vehicle for up to 8 hours a day, up to 4 hours at a time.
Lift/carry/setup up to 30 lb samples, workstations, benches, boxes, and tools.
Interact with display/center controller/steering wheel while driving or while stationary testing.
Preferred
Prior experience with IATF 16949 certification.
APQP/FMEA certification.
Experience managing technical teams building embedded systems.
Bilingual – Korean / English.
Recruiting Range
$109,537 – $146,050 USD
