Scientific - Laboratory Technician Lv1
in Elk River, MN.
Position Summary The Laboratory Technician will perform routine analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety, quality, and operations teams. This role involves conducting product tests, monitoring instrumentation, documenting data, and ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
Additional Details
Contract Length: 12 months with the possibility of extension
Pay range: $18 to $20/hour on W2
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM CST
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine analysis of product samples to support quality and safety programs.
Conduct testing in accordance with established procedures under intermediate supervision.
Prepare samples, including weighing and grinding analytical materials.
Perform analytical testing such as ash content, forced-air moisture, and vacuum moisture analysis.
Check and monitor instrumentation performance; perform calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and simple repairs as needed.
Record and interpret test results accurately in laboratory databases and communicate findings to relevant teams.
Maintain up-to-date customer specification books and testing documentation.
Support food/feed safety, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Ensure adherence to all procedural, safety, and regulatory standards.
Handle administrative and technical support tasks under general supervision, escalating complex issues as needed.
Read and interpret standard documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
Prepare routine laboratory reports and correspondence.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree is not required; coursework or laboratory experience (academic or professional) is sufficient.
Experience or familiarity with wet chemistry techniques.
Ability to perform repetitive analytical tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to follow safety and quality procedures consistently.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
