In this role, you will:
Supervise the daily operations of the Immunohistochemistry Department and personnel to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and established procedures.
Assist the Manager in developing, implementing, revising, interpreting, and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), company policies and procedures, and service standards.
Advise the Manager of problems and concerns in the department and laboratory.
Compile data and prepare reports; may work on special assigned projects.
Perform all necessary functions required of an Immunohistochemistry Technician, including:
Ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Coordinating the proper storage of hazardous materials and the laboratory safety program.
Examining slides and/or blocks to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements.
Performing and documenting daily quality control and quality assurance measures.
Preparing sections of human tissue for immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence testing.
Performing both manual and automated testing for IHC, ISH and DIF samples as requested by a Pathologist.
Maintaining strict confidentiality.
Complying with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, policies, and procedural manuals.
Adhering to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's or higher degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited institution, with at least four years of relevant laboratory experience.
Board of Certification (BOC) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Histology Technician or Histotechnologist, including 3 years performing IHC procedures and/or 2 years as an IHC Supervisor.
Certification as a Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) by ASCP preferred.
State licensure, if required by state.
