The Role NNS is seeking an experienced technical leader to drive our cybersecurity efforts over the coming decades. The Level 5 position is the most senior technical role in this family and is located within the Aircraft Carrier Reactor and Propulsion Plant Planning Yards. The role will support land‑based and shipboard systems in Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plant (NNPP) platforms.

Duties Will Include

Providing subject‑matter expertise to cross‑functional teams within NNS developing and implementing security frameworks.

Coordinating with NNS, Electric Boat (EB), Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc. (BPMI), Naval Nuclear Laboratories (NNL), and the Navy to ensure NNPP executes strategic objectives for Control System Security (CSS).

Overseeing analysis and processing of artifacts to obtain and maintain the Authority to Operate (ATO) for information systems.

Leading teams developing and executing Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, System Security Plans (SSP), Continuous Monitoring Plans, Platform IT (PIT) Risk Acceptance Packages (PRA), and Security Assessment Reports (SAR).

Driving excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement for these teams.

Working on unusually complex technical problems and providing highly innovative solutions.

Serving as the organization’s spokesperson on cybersecurity and advising management and customers on advanced technical topics.

Using proactive foresight to identify risks and opportunities and advising stakeholders on appropriate actions.

Occasionally developing and presenting reports, letters, and information to broad audiences that is logical, self‑explanatory, and accurate.

Providing oversight, guidance, and training to the NNS staff to develop strong technical and organizational competencies.

Advising management on industry trends and emerging technologies that impact cost, schedule, quality, and efficiency.

Must Have Bachelor’s Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.

NNS Apprentice School graduate

Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Associate’s Degree or other formal 2‑year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non‑exempt experience

Military paygrade E‑5 or above military experience

High School/GED and 4 years combined of manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant exempt experience

High School/GED and 8 years combined of manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant non‑exempt experience

A relevant professional certification can substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.

Nice to Have

Master of Science in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Professional Engineering License in Computer Engineering, Control Systems, or Electronics/Controls/Communications.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

DoD Risk Management Framework Practitioner (RDRP).
