Job Description / Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Planning

Coordinate all aspects of tax preparation with external tax advisors, ensuring accurate and timely filings for all entities.

Lead proactive tax planning initiatives related to sales, recapitalizations, acquisitions, and reorganizations, optimizing outcomes for ownership entities and investors.

Maintain awareness of relevant tax law changes and their potential impact on company strategy.

Compliance & Audit Coordination

Lead the coordination of annual financial statement audits across all entities, serving as primary liaison with external auditors.

Ensure audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.

Partner with internal departments and external partners to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.

Investor Reporting

Execute monthly financial reporting for capital partners.

Manage the preparation and execution of quarterly reporting to outside high net worth investors.

Valuation Coordination

Manage the preparation and review of financial data used for periodic property and entity valuations.

Collaborate with asset management and external valuation firms to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting assumptions.

Internal Controls & Compliance Documentation

Document, implement, and monitor internal controls across accounting processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

Evaluate process gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the company’s financial control environment.

Financial Oversight

Review monthly account reconciliations and financial reporting packages for completeness and accuracy.

Oversee development accounting for new construction and renovation projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, capitalization, and reporting.

Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions as needed.

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor a team of 1 Staff Accountant and 1 Senior Accountant, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous learning.

Provide coaching, workload prioritization, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of public accounting experience in tax and audit required.

Experience coordinating audits, tax filings, and valuations for multiple entities required.

Technical accounting skills (GAAP, Consolidations, Internal Controls).

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
