Job Summary The
Homebuilder Lending / Relationship Manager
sources, originates, and manages relationships with homebuilders, developers, and landowners in the real‑estate sector, identifying loan opportunities and negotiating terms.
What You Will Do
Identify and cultivate relationships with homebuilders, developers, and landowners to generate new business opportunities.
Inherit and manage existing platform homebuilder relationships.
Source land, acquisition and development (A&A), and construction loan opportunities for both vertical and horizontal development.
Lead outreach efforts in key submarkets and maintain an active presence in industry networks (e.g., ULI, NAHB, local builder associations).
Monitor public records, MLS, and land brokerage activity to identify acquisition signals.
Develop and maintain referral networks with real‑estate attorneys, brokers, bankers, and engineers.
Manage a team of support staff (3‑5 individuals).
Perform preliminary underwriting to assess project feasibility and borrower qualifications.
Coordinate with credit underwriters to determine deal sizing, structure, and risk assessment.
Negotiate terms with borrowers and develop investment committee memos and term sheets.
Act as primary liaison during due diligence and closing processes.
Monitor housing trends, absorption rates, pricing dynamics, entitlement processes, and competitive landscape.
Provide feedback on underwriting guidelines and lending parameters.
Maintain detailed pipeline tracking using CRM tools and report metrics to senior leadership.
What You Should Have
Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, business administration or related field.
Proven experience in real‑estate finance, lending, or business development, especially in homebuilder construction or development financing.
Strong networking and relationship‑building skills with a track record of deal sourcing.
Excellent analytical skills with ability to perform preliminary underwriting.
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong negotiation skills.
Knowledge of real‑estate market trends and dynamics.
Ability to travel as needed.
