Senior
Vice President – Healthcare Sector Leader,
you will have the opportunity to develop and grow relationships in the healthcare market, develop strategy, lead pursuits and multidiscipline engineering teams.This position is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join our Midwest teams of experienced professionals in a leadership role and grow a team focused on Healthcare Clients.
Role & Responsibilities
Externally focused on business development, client outreach, and pursuit management.
Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Mechanical Engineering work for WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design, and strategic consulting and program/construction management).
Funnel information and communicate with the Marketing Team and Operations Team.
Develop high-level business contacts and a client base for providing high-level mechanical engineering services, including identifying additional business development opportunities and cross-selling other WSP capabilities.
Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high-level strategic advice to clients.
Lead engineering discipline meetings and continuing educational opportunities, providing updates and recommendations to staff to foster innovation, development, and quality project delivery.
Provide performance guidance and proactive leadership to assigned managers and staff.
Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide future-ready solutions for clients.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Resource projects and coordinate with other offices and business lines for intercompany work.
Lead projects, ensuring profitability, successful completion, and adherence to proposal and scoping processes.
Maintain technical expertise in temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, plumbing systems, and regulatory compliance.
Support change management, process improvement, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
Critical Success Factors
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to build long-term, meaningful relationships with clients. Ability to translate complicated technical information into sales messages.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, and craft approaches to challenging problems.
Technical or A/E/C sales background required.
Collaboration and a partnering approach.
Excellent leadership and development skills.
Ability to influence and gain buy-in from clients and our team.
Demonstrated Change Management skills and experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
15+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, mechanical, and infrastructure design in the healthcare sector
Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
Advanced proficiency with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Extensive advanced proficiency with building and infrastructure design.
Advanced knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.
Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, load calculations, discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, CAM), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools used in the corporate environment.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Sustainability certification.
20+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior mechanical design experience.
Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
