Commercial Project Engineer – C&I Solar About Us:

Position Summary:

The Commercial Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of C&I solar projects. We’re looking for a strong electrical engineer with solid experience in power systems—someone who understands electrical principles, load calculations, and system design. While specific solar experience is a plus, we can provide training on the solar‑specific aspects. This position ensures that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the electrical engineering design and technical planning for commercial and industrial solar projects.

Develop single‑line diagrams, electrical layouts, and interconnection plans in compliance with NEC, local codes, and utility requirements.

Collaborate with sales, permitting, and construction teams to ensure accurate project scoping and seamless execution.

Conduct feasibility studies, system sizing, and performance modeling for proposed solar installations.

Review and approve technical submittals, vendor equipment, and material specifications.

Support utility interconnection processes, including application submissions and coordination with utility engineers.

Perform site visits to evaluate conditions, assess risks, and verify design assumptions.

Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and commissioning phases.

Maintain project documentation, drawings, and records in accordance with company standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).

3+ years of experience in electrical engineering or power systems design.

Strong understanding of electrical systems, including load flow, protection, and distribution.

Experience with AutoCAD, electrical modeling, or design software.

Familiarity with NEC codes and utility interconnection requirements.

Excellent project management, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Skills

Some experience with solar design or renewable energy projects (training provided).

Knowledge of inverters, racking, and balance‑of‑system components.

Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT certification.

Experience with CT utility interconnection processes.

Knowledge of energy storage integration and hybrid solar solutions.
