Project Engineer

to join our office in Los Angeles or Irvine, CA.

Description The primary function of a Project Engineer is to assist the Project Manager and the Superintendent in organizing, controlling, scheduling, monitoring, and recording all activities which are part of the construction management of a project. Demonstrate an understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field. This position reports directly to the Project Manager, Superintendent, and all other assigned supervisors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Attend weekly meetings and transcribe detailed meeting minutes clearly, precisely, and accurately.

Inspect construction site daily and work with subcontractors to schedule deliveries.

Review designs and drawings for correct installation of materials and qualifications.

Review all types of submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.

Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors; initiate RFIs if needed.

Process and review RFIs to ensure completeness and follow up as needed.

Understand the potential change order process, including change order validation, creation, assembly, and submission to the Owner.

Maintain distribution routing of all submittals, RFIs, close‑out, punch list, emergency logistic plans, and all other document processes to/from consultants, Owner, and subcontractors.

Track expediting logs and coordinate all submittals between subcontractors.

Prepare field design change requisitions and as‑built drawings as required.

Generate field design change requests and maintain documentation records such as status reports and punch lists.

Conduct value‑engineering functions and comment on the viability of designs.

Attend meetings with other contractors, subcontractors, clients, or A/E representatives to coordinate design and construction efforts.

Demonstrate knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, and applicable standards.

Observe construction work performed in the field and participate in job walks to document and report findings.

Generate queries and reports in Procore construction software, perform quantity takeoffs, and establish and complete submittal and project close‑out logs.

Maintain dependability, consistency, diligence, and thoroughness in day‑to‑day tasks.

Analyze and resolve construction process problems and communicate effectively with all personnel levels.

Follow instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform job functions.

Exhibit excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Perform work tasks independently while learning and applying new skills.

Exercise creativity and resourcefulness in completing tasks accurately in a compressed timeframe.

Handle a varied workload and multiple priorities while working as a team to achieve company and project goals.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor and always represent the company with professionalism and a commitment to quality.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or a related field is required.

Minimum one year of experience in the field or a related area.

Strong Excel and MS Office Suite proficiency.

Procore or similar construction software experience is a plus.

Blueprint reading knowledge (required).

Scheduling and estimating software knowledge; proficiency in Primavera P6 is desired.
