Job Overview
2 days ago – BESS Product Manager – New Product Development at GE Vernova (Geographic: Troy, NY; Albany, NY; Poestenkill, NY; Rensselaer, NY). This role focuses on developing new battery energy storage system (BESS) products for datacenters, stand‑alone, and hybrid (BESS + generation) markets. After product launch, the manager will transition the product to a sustaining team while moving quickly to the next development cycle.
Responsibilities
Lead BESS augmentation product development from ideation through stage‑gate, implementation, and management.
Develop business cases and decide on target markets, new technologies, and strategy across GE Vernova’s global footprint.
Own functional, business, and company objectives; integrate processes that meet business needs and support long‑term planning.
Maintain and broaden knowledge of sales territory, product lines, markets, and customer groups to execute strategy.
Apply key business drivers to accomplish work and understand how the team’s work integrates with other teams.
Exercise autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework; consult senior teammates when needed.
Travel up to 25% domestically, with occasional international travel to customer sites, projects, and manufacturing facilities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering from an accredited university.
2+ years of BESS experience from engineering or product management.
6+ total years of professional work experience with relevant skill development.
Desired Characteristics
Interest in both engineering and business development.
MBA or business education strongly preferred.
Prior product management experience with large, high‑cost, B2B products.
Experience in BESS, program management, stage‑gate processes, and Lean startup methodology.
Track record of working with sales teams and performing well in front of customers.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $89,700 – $149,500 USD annually, with performance bonus/variable incentive and equity potential.
