Are you a committed Special Education Teacher prepared to create a meaningful impact on students' academic success in Brooklyn? Knowledge Road is looking for a full-time Special Education Teacher (SETSS) to become part of our team and deliver essential support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a substantial city-wide shortage of qualified special education professionals, your expertise is urgently required to ensure students receive the personalized instruction they deserve. This represents a chance to work directly with students who need specialized academic support, assisting them in reaching their educational goals through targeted intervention and evidence-based instruction.

As a SETSS provider with Knowledge Road, you will provide individualized and small‑group instruction in school settings, partnering collaboratively with families and school teams to advance student progress and academic achievement.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, individualized, and small-group instruction to students with disabilities, in alignment with their Individualized Education Service Programs (IESP).

Ensure completion of each student's weekly IESP mandates and maintain an intervention schedule coordinated with the school timetable.

Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports and maintain bi-weekly family communication with clear updates on progress and next steps.

Document service delivery and student performance in Knowledge Road's system with accurate, timely documentation.

Design and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that address the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.

Partner with parents, teachers, and other school staff to build a supportive and inclusive learning environment for your students.

Track and monitor student progress, providing regular updates to families and school based teams.

Take part in IESP meetings as needed, contributing valuable insights and recommendations to advance student success.

Qualifications

NYS Students with Disabilities (B-2, 1-6, 7-12, or All Grades) or NYS Literacy Specialist.

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Must not have been employed by NYC DOE within the last 12 months.

Experience teaching Math and ELA.

Reliable transportation.

NYC DOE fingerprinting status/approval is required, or willingness to complete them before starting.

Current Openings Brooklyn, NY 11223 – Full‑time, school‑day position with hours averaging ~20‑30 hours/week.

Schedule & Location Full‑time, school‑day position aligned with NYC DOE calendar, delivered on‑site at a school in Brooklyn. Hours/week based on IESP mandates; caseload may fluctuate.

Compensation $60 – $100 per hour (1099) . Rate varies by group size and assignment. Individual IESP sessions typically start at $60/hr.
