Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a
Senior Mechanical Engineer
for a 12 month contract. In this role, you will prepare design and procurement documents for the
Sentinel Project . The position has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating the design as it pertains to chilled water systems and unique requirement‑driven equipment. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in piping system and equipment design and will be capable of developing design documents and procurement documents, including specifications, material requisitions, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment data sheets, as well as strong organizational and teamwork skills and proven problem‑solving capabilities. You will interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design.
This
onsite
role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization/demobilization.
Qualification Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical or related Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
US Citizenship Required.
Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, chilled water system design, pipe sizing calculations, and equipment specification and procurement development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
Experience with developing custom equipment packages, including skid‑mounted systems and specialty items such as security doors.
Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA‑1, or AS9100D.
U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
Major Responsibilities
Prepare and check design and procurement documents including but not limited to P&IDs, supporting calculations, data sheets, engineering specifications, and material requisitions.
Prepare specifications and data sheets for unique, requirement‑driven equipment, perform as the technical representative for the associated purchase order or subcontract, review vendor submittals, and manage the selected supplier’s technical performance.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to support engineering design decisions.
Design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and design standards and guides.
Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
Assist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Prepare mechanical engineering reports for clients as required.
Mentor and assist more junior mechanical team members.
Complete mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
