WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Senior Paralegal will assist attorneys on the Latin American & Caribbean Legal Team in providing highly specialized legal services on complex and high-value matters to advance TNC priorities and appropriately manage risk.
With minimal supervision from a TNC attorney, the Senior Paralegal provides an advanced level of expertise to support and coordinate legal services on complex and high-value matters for assigned business units or projects, ensuring that transactions and activities are legally sound and consistent with TNC’s mission, authority, policies, and procedures. The Senior Paralegal will apply advanced knowledge and skills to serve organizational needs in a highly efficient and effective manner. The Senior Paralegal will be able to effectively articulate relevant legal concepts and internal policies and procedures to others. They will have a solid understanding of the concept of legal liability and risk management.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU We are a global conservation organization looking for an experienced paralegal to provide legal services for our programs. The Nature Conservancy’s Global Legal Team provides stellar legal services to our internal clients, including advising on applicable law, assisting clients in finding solutions and alternatives for their legal issues in a fast-paced environment. On a regular basis, the Senior Paralegal will be communicating with clients in English, Portuguese or Spanish, providing information as requested, identifying needs, and providing training. The work includes clarifying internal protocols, revising contracts in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, utilizing available tools to track changes and versions of documents, advising on how to proceed with projects, and assisting with other legal matters. This position works closely with a team of attorneys and paralegals.
You’ll have exceptional communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi‑task and work on multiple projects simultaneously. English as well as Portuguese language fluency is required. The Senior Paralegal will work out of The Nature Conservancy’s Arlington, Virginia office on a hybrid schedule.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in paralegal or legal assistant studies plus 4 years of combined legal and administrative experience OR equivalent qualifications acquired through coursework and/or related job experience that demonstrates assumption of significant responsibilities for supporting and coordinating complex or specialized legal work.
Experience conducting research on the Internet and in other legal resources.
Experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
Experience with digital file organization (ex: Google Drive, Box, iManage, or similar).
Writing skills experience.
Fluency in oral and written English and Portuguese.
Experience working across cultures.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of Spanish preferred.
Experience with contracts review.

SALARY INFORMATION The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this hourly position is generally within the range of $75,000 - $80,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
