As a Lead Credit Officer - Vice President in Commercial and Specialized Industries Risk, you partner with us to deliver tailored credit solutions for a diverse portfolio of clients. You help drive financing decisions that support working capital, acquisitions, and growth initiatives. You work with privately-held and publicly-traded companies, family-owned businesses, and financial sponsors, ensuring their needs are met with sound risk management. You play a key role in structuring credit facilities and negotiating agreements, while contributing to our team’s success and development.

Additionally, this risk management position supports Indiana and Kentucky and covers companies across diversified industries with revenues ranging from $20 million to $2 billion. Credit executions include bilateral structures, syndicated deals, institutional loans, and direct lending. A critical aspect of this role is the ability to develop and communicate a comprehensive understanding of the business, financial, and industry risks faced by clients and prospects in the assigned portfolio. You will utilize this insight to accurately risk grade borrowers, analyze credit requests, structure credit facilities, and negotiate credit agreements and other loan documentation.

Job Responsibilities

Perform credit analysis and financial modeling to structure and recommend new transactions

Lead leveraged finance transactions and manage legal documentation negotiations for various lending structures

Manage assigned credit portfolio independently, ensuring data integrity

Assess and process risk rating changes promptly

Develop and communicate well-considered credit views, incorporating company and industry risks

Defend credit views to internal stakeholders and senior leadership

Challenge banking teams as a second line of defense

Drive deals to closure by meeting expectations and deadlines with strong time management

Collaborate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to execute transactions

Apply thorough understanding of credit policy and procedures

Contribute to team objectives by developing junior talent and participating in projects

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field

Completion of a major corporate or commercial bank credit training program or equivalent experience

Seven years of experience in middle market and mid-corporate lending

Extensive experience in credit analysis, leveraged finance structuring, and loan documentation negotiation

Experience working with portfolio companies of private equity firms

Strong accounting and finance knowledge with advanced financial modeling skills

Solid working knowledge of credit agreements and loan documentation

Demonstrated critical and analytical thinking skills

Proven ability to collaborate and build partnerships

Excellent organizational and project management skills under tight deadlines

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint

Experience supporting companies across diversified industries

Familiarity with bilateral, syndicated, institutional, and direct lending structures

Strong negotiation skills in complex transactions

Ability to mentor and develop junior team members
