Position Environment and Sustainability Manager

Location Peterborough with hybrid working available

Salary Guide £50-62k (Neg DOE), Car/Allowance and excellent benefits package

About the Client Our client is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector.

They have over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting long‑term water sector frameworks, both on their own and in joint ventures and alliances.

The client is part of Anglian Water’s @one Alliance, which will deliver a record £2.6 billion of investment in the AMP8 programme aimed at protecting and enhancing the East of England’s natural environment and providing resilience to climate change.

Role Overview Our client is looking to strengthen their SHEQ team.

The Environment and Sustainability Manager will report directly to the SHEA Manager and will be responsible for ensuring overall compliance with environmental legislation and the environmental standards within the @one Alliance, while driving sustainable working practices during construction.

The role entails managing a team of Environment and Sustainability Advisors and providing support and guidance to the different functional teams.

Responsibilities

Provide support to construction projects on environmental issues, including assisting with document production and review as necessary.

Develop and drive sustainable working practices during construction.

Consult with environmental regulators and key stakeholders when required.

Work collaboratively across the @one Alliance contract to ensure requirements of the AMS are delivered at appropriate DM stages.

Provide technical input into mitigation measures at pre‑construction stage and guidance on environmental constraints and risks.

Ensure environmental information is communicated effectively between the Enabling Team, Environment and Sustainability Advisors and the Construction Teams.

Review and update environmental information within the AMS.

Ensure compliance with current environmental legislation and promote best practices relevant to @one Alliance.

Analyse current and future legislation requirements, identifying solutions to ensure continued compliance in partnership with relevant organisations.

Undertake the annual management review.

Maintain and update the NCR log for environmental issues.

Represent and promote @one Alliance Environmental Management at key forums.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience of environmental management within the construction industry.

Degree in an environmental‑related subject.

Partner company management training.

Experience managing a team.

Subject‑matter expertise in:

Contaminated Land

Statutory Nuisance

Waste Management

Soil Testing

Ecology

Archaeology

Carbon

Sustainability

Social Value

Incident Investigation
