Tasks Your Mission
As a Cloud Engineer in our IT Operations/Platform team, you will operate and improve our
multi-hypervisor cloud platform
and adjacent services. You’ll handle day-to-day reliability work, automate repetitive tasks, resolve customer-impacting incidents, and keep our backup and DR posture strong. You’ll collaborate closely with
IT Ops, Platform Engineering, Networking, and Support .
This is a hands-on role with clear ownership. You’ll rotate in on-call, drive fixes end-to-end, and contribute to runbooks and documentation.
Your Responsibilities
Customer Incidents (CSP/JSM)
Triage, troubleshoot, and coordinate incidents; communicate clearly with internal teams and (when needed) customers.
Perform urgent restarts and recovery actions in line with runbooks.
Backups & DR (Acronis, Veeam)
Investigate and remediate backup failures, storage/quota issues, and alert noise vs signal.
Keep DR replication healthy and ready; spot-check statuses and resource pools.
Images / ISOs / Templates / Operating Systems
Resolve ISO mounting issues and maintain image/template hygiene and lifecycle.
Operate, patch and maintain Windows & Linux systems.
Virtualization & Platform Ops
Operate and maintain
vCenter/vSphere/ESXi
and
Proxmox
environments (compute, storage, networking).
Monitor host health, certificates, capacity, and performance; address storage warnings.
Networking (in collaboration with NetOps)
Handle VLAN activations and resolve basic connectivity/no-network cases.
CMDB & Documentation
Create/update documentation and runbooks in Confluence; keep CMDB entries accurate.
Projects/Initiatives
Support decommission/migration tasks and platform improvements; contribute to vulnerability remediation follow-ups.
On-call & Escalations
Participate in OpsGenie/ITMON rotations; update escalation policies and validate alert routing.
Requirements
3+ years hands-on in system administration, infrastructure, or cloud engineering.
Strong Linux administration; comfortable on the CLI for diagnostics and remediation.
Practical experience with virtualization:
VMware vCenter/vSphere/ESXi
and/or
Proxmox (KVM) .
Familiar with networking (VLANs, routing basics) and storage concepts.
Backup/DR exposure: Acronis and/or Veeam in production environments.
Automation mindset: scripting with
Shell ; familiarity with
Ansible ;
Python
is a plus.
Incident management: calm under pressure, structured troubleshooting, clear documentation.
Communication: fluent in
German and English .
Location: based in
Switzerland
(hybrid/onsite as needed), able to participate in on-call.
Bonus Points
Containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
Experience in regulated environments (ISO 27001, SOC 2) and access control best practices.
Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Opensearch; cert/PKI operations.
WAF/Firewall exposure and customer-facing communication in incidents.
Relevant certs: RHCE, CKA, VCP, LPIC (or equivalent)
