Senior Engineering Analyst, AdSpam Trust and Safety Overview Google's Trust and Safety team defends users by fighting web abuse and fraud across Google products. The Ad Traffic Quality team analyzes billions of events to stop motivated fraudsters and to help users, advertisers, publishers, and Google monetize the internet safely and usefully. This role requires big-picture thinking, strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration with developers and Product Managers, and the ability to handle abuse and fraud cases quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

Apply advanced statistical methods to complex data sets to analyze the impact of abuse on the Mobile ads ecosystem.

Perform fraud and spam investigations using various data sources; identify product vulnerabilities and drive anti-abuse experiments to prevent abuse.

Work with engineers and stakeholders to improve workflows via process improvements, automation, and anti-abuse system creation. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Trust and Safety teams to prevent abuse by changing policies and closing product loopholes.

Lead and conduct complex fraud investigations using data; identify gaps in current defenses, explore/new signals, and develop scalable enforcement solutions for non-compliant publisher inventory with a focus on Android.

Review or be exposed to sensitive content as part of investigations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

5 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.

5 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

5 years of experience with Python, R or SQL.

3 years of experience in the application of ML/AI (can include GenAI solutions).

Experience with fraud, abuse detection or risk management.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in digital advertising industry in a technical role.

Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in a fluid environment.

Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts with cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.

Compensation and location The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
