The Architectural Metals Welder is responsible for layout, fitting, and welding of custom architectural components, primarily utilizing light gauge stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel. The work is performed in an indoor shop setting and requires a high degree of precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality finishes often associated with architectural products.

Weld Preparation: Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols to determine the appropriate welding processes, materials, and measurements. Layout, measure, and mark materials for cutting and shaping. Fabrication & Fitting: Fit and assemble components using various tools (clamps, squares, jigs) to ensure proper alignment and dimensional accuracy before welding. Welding: Perform Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and/or Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) on light gauge materials including stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel, adhering to project specifications and quality standards. Quality Control: Inspect finished welds for quality, penetration, and conformance to specifications, making necessary corrections as needed. Ensure all products meet high aesthetic and structural standards for architectural applications. Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools in a safe and efficient manner. Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Required Qualifications

Experience: Proven experience as a Welder, with demonstrated proficiency in TIG welding on light gauge stainless steel and aluminum for architectural or high-finish applications. Experience with MIG welding on mild steel is also required. Skills: Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints and shop drawings. Strong knowledge of various metal properties and welding filler materials. Proficiency in setting up and troubleshooting welding equipment for different materials and gauges. Excellent math and measurement skills. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a certified welding program or apprenticeship is a strong asset. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. Work safely in a shop environment exposed to noise, heat, and fumes (with proper ventilation/PPE). Preferred Attributes

Prior experience specifically in the fabrication of architectural products such as railings, decorative panels, column covers, or custom fixtures.
