Job Description
The purpose of this position is to support the overall manufacturing operation and facility infrastructure by performing advanced
control system repairs, installation, and maintenance activities. This position reports to either a Lead Controls Technician,
Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Department Manager.
The key thing they are looking for Electrical Maintenance technicians who can troubleshoot and repair electical equipment, controls systems and PLC's. They would also like candidate who have a willingness to learn new skills and enhance the skills they already have.
They will teach you their machinery and equipment and bring you up to speed on skills sets you might be weak on as long as you are coachable and show an eagerness and willingness to learn.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
Ensures equipment, machinery, tools, and other items used by technician are operated properly Understands how to handle machine properly during an emergency, which includes power outages, machine failure, workplace injuries, etc. Ensures knowledge of state and federal workplace safety regulations, including OSHA and CalOSHA, and how they relate to the D&W work environment Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required Understands and performs Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and has the ability to train and mentor others in compliance. Has a very good understanding of Arc-Flash hazards and procedures and possesses the ability to train others in the proper compliance with Arc-Flash rules. Trains other maintenance technicians on safety procedures and guidelines Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately Must consider safety concerns with respect to instrumentation, controls, and equipment. Quality
Follows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP's Assists in ensuring all department facilities, shops, and offices are compliant with 5S and AIB standards for cleanliness and visual management. Provides dependable equipment control systems to the operation. Maintenance • Performs the following tasks on manufacturing machinery and equipment:
Assists in the development, implementation, repair of site wide instrumentation, control and electrical systems. Performs system startups and operational checkouts on systems including configurations, wiring, calibration, grounding and power testing. Reloads and reboots PCs and PLCs to restore faulted equipment. Preforms preventative maintenance and routine inspections. Provides hardware and software applications support assistance to engineers, maintenance and operations. Sets up and configures replacement boards and assemblies to fit specific applications Specifies, organizes and maintains adequate spare parts and modules for control and instrumentation systems. Tunes automatic feedback on closed loops using PID controls. Maintains "To Do" lists and systems trouble reports and routinely reports status. Participates in the development of project scopes, design of systems, and functional specifications. Utilizes technical materials such as equipment manuals, system drawings, process and instrument diagrams, schematics, and blue prints to troubleshoot and maintain systems. Participates in cross functional process improvement teams to drive plant performance through improved processes and system control systems performance. Participates in the creation and implementation of a training program for the maintenance technicians and operations employees around the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of integrated controls and information systems. Performs the following type of maintenance activities: • Advanced electrical work Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Highly Preferred: AA/AS degree in related field; or equivalent college credit hours or D&W approved continuing education or courses; or approved state or locally approved trade licenses such as Electrician, heating and cooling, boiler operator 5 Year manufacturing electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience. A track record of achieving positive results and increased engineering leadership responsibilities. Very strong process controls background required. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical/electronic circuits . Demonstrated knowledge of distributed control systems and PLC systems-demonstrated ability to solve problems, troubleshoot complicated process control systems, apply root cause failure techniques, to anticipate changes, and react to avoid disruptions. Highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic; must be driven to keep busy Ability to work in team environment and communicate information to other employees Benefits
