Position Overview The Senior Director of Supply Chain Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping, executing, and overseeing supply planning operations across our organization. You will lead the development of optimized production schedules, inventory strategies, and material flow plans, ensuring efficient coordination between demand forecasting, manufacturing, and distribution to fulfill customer needs effectively and affordably for our furniture products. This position is part of a cohesive Supply Chain Planning organization directed by the VP of Supply Chain Planning, collaborating closely with the Demand Planning team to foster integrated business planning excellence. You will manage daily supply planning operations while also contributing to the strategic advancement of our S&OP/IBP processes and advanced planning capabilities. Key Responsibilities Drive operational excellence in supply planning processes for all furniture manufacturing facilities, maximizing resources. Establish and oversee detailed inventory policies, safety stock levels, and replenishment strategies across all stages of production. Ensure efficient material flow from suppliers to manufacturing to distribution, ultimately reaching customers. Implement strategies to reduce excess and obsolete inventory while preventing stock-outs, especially for long-lead-time and seasonal products. Integrated Planning & S&OP Collaboration Work hand-in-hand with the Demand Planning team to create aligned and actionable supply plans that support our business goals. Enhance and execute Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes under the VP's guidance. Balance inventory targets, manufacturing capacity, and customer service levels to maximize working capital while satisfying market demand. Provide supply insights for strategic capacity planning and production scheduling decisions. Supplier and Manufacturing Coordination Partner with Manufacturing leaders to align production schedules with demand forecasts, considering the complexity of furniture assembly. Collaborate with Procurement to ensure alignment on lead times, material availability, and manufacturing capabilities. Identify and minimize supply risks, such as raw material shortages and production line disruptions. Enhance supplier performance to ensure reliable supply plans. Advanced Planning Systems & Analytics Contribute to the implementation and optimization of Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems and planning software. Utilize data analytics and predictive modeling to enhance supply planning accuracy and operational efficiency. Maintain data integrity and reporting for all supply planning metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven insights and best practices. Team Leadership & Development Build and lead a high-performing team of supply planners and inventory analysts. Cultivate a culture of improvement, analytical thought, and collaboration across functions. Foster talent development and succession planning within the supply planning team. Manage performance and professional development of team members. Cross-Functional Collaboration Maintain effective relationships with Manufacturing, Procurement, Distribution, and other teams. Support Finance in inventory valuation and working capital management efforts. Work with Distribution teams to optimize logistics and product flow for shipments. Engage with IT on system enhancements and automation opportunities. Core Competencies Expertise in crafting supply planning strategies in complex, multi-channel manufacturing setups, ideally in furniture or durable goods. Solid grounding in production planning and inventory optimization principles. Familiarity with S&OP/IBP processes and cross-functional planning integration. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field. Master's degree (MBA or a relevant advanced degree) preferred. Experience 12-15 years of progressive supply chain planning experience, with 5-7 years in senior management roles. Track record of leading supply planning operations in large organizations. Preferred experience in furniture manufacturing or similar assembly operations.
