Position IT Support Specialist – Small Business – Baltimore Metro Area (on‑site 10–30%, remote 70–90%)

Work Experience

of a minimum 3–5 years with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) that supports small business clients.

Salary negotiable based on experience.

Responsibilities Provide Tier 1–3 help‑desk support and on‑site assistance for small business clients, primarily in the medical, legal, accounting, non‑profit, financial, government contractor, engineering, and education sectors.

Consult with clients on IT solutions and best practices; maintain day‑to‑day IT needs including hardware, software, networking, and security.

Support after‑hours, weekends, and on‑call rotations to ensure uninterrupted client systems.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong interpersonal and social skills to build rapport with small business owners and users.

Server, workstation, applications, printer, and cloud troubleshooting skills.

Experience with Office 365 Management, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

Managing common software and solutions for small business IT needs.

Tier 1, 2 and some Tier 3 IT support.

Server project experience – migration (physical/virtual/cloud), implementation and maintenance.

Public DNS management and domain renewals (Azure/Entra AD, SharePoint, Onedrive).

Firewall management (General policy, rule creation) and managed switch configuration.

Virtual server management in Hyper‑V or VMware.

Windows and Linux system administration – File servers, RD Gateway, SSL certificates, site‑to‑site VPN, Wi‑Fi management.

QuickBooks, SQL, SAGE, and other business software support.

Bonus Skills

ConnectWise Manage PSA Ticketing, ScreenConnect, SonicWALL firewalls, EDR, DNSFilter, ThreatLocker, DUO, Adlumin XDR/MDR, Netgear Insight Cloud, Unifi/Ubiquity wireless cloud management.

Automation scripting (RMM or equivalent).

AI tool usage (ChatGPT, Perplexity, CoPilot) for troubleshooting and research.

Migration project experience (server, cloud, tenant, sharepoint drive); handling typical hardware rotation.

Work Conditions Remote support is the majority of work; onsite visits required as needed. Some after‑hours, weekends, or weeknights may be required. On‑call rotations are shared among IT staff.
