Role Overview
We are seeking a
Software Development Engineer III (SDE III)
to join our growing infrastructure engineering team at ID.me. As an SDE III, you will build and maintain tools, templates, and automation that streamline the development lifecycle—from project initiation to production readiness. You will empower internal product engineering teams by enabling rapid bootstrap of new projects, upgrading existing services, and ensuring consistent adoption of production standards across the organization.
The role is based out of our
Mountain View, CA office
or
McLean, VA office , and requires full‑time in‑office attendance.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of high‑quality CLI tools, GitHub Actions, or other automation to apply standardized production‑readiness configurations (security settings, observability setup, infrastructure hooks).
Own end‑to‑end delivery of medium to large platform features or services, from technical design through deployment and support.
Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and pairing.
Collaborate, contribute to, and evolve the internal platform experience, ensuring high usability and developer satisfaction.
Drive best practices in code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness. Contribute to the evolution of ID.me’s platform by building foundational services and frameworks used across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
3+ years of professional software development experience.
Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Java, Go, Python, Ruby, or JavaScript.
Qualifications
Experience working in a platform or product infrastructure team.
Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling.
Hands‑on experience with GCP, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
Experience with security compliance in enterprise environments (e.g., SOC2, FedRAMP).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical contexts.
Passion for mentorship, documentation, and elevating team performance.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD systems.
Experience building or contributing to internal development platforms, SDKs, or scaffolding tools.
Understanding of production observability principles (logging, metrics, alerting).
Demonstrated ownership of at least one significant project or feature from design through launch.
