Job Title:
Senior System Administrator
Department:
IT Infrastructure & Operations
Purpose:
The Senior System Administrator is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s enterprise systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security. This role provides leadership across virtualization, systems, and storage management, supporting mission‑critical workloads and driving modernization through automation, observability, and standardization. The Senior System Administrator serves as a senior technical escalation point, mentors junior team members, and ensures adherence to corporate cybersecurity and compliance standards.
Essential Functions:
Infrastructure & Systems Management
Design, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
Administer Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS) systems, including patching, configuration, and security hardening.
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP for secure identity and network operations.
Implement and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication for enterprise‑class backup and disaster recovery.
Support enterprise SAN/NAS storage systems, ensuring high availability and lifecycle optimization.
Network & Security
Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and network appliances (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
Work with the Cybersecurity team to ensure system patching, endpoint protection, and compliance with DMARC/SPF/DKIM standards.
Monitor system and network performance proactively and perform capacity planning.
Maintain strict system hardening, access control, and audit compliance.
Automation, Monitoring & Reliability
Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible to streamline system operations.
Implement and maintain monitoring and observability tools such as SolarWinds, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Splunk.
Lead root cause analysis and implement preventive and corrective actions for high‑impact incidents.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for infrastructure automation and operational resilience.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as Tier‑3 escalation for complex infrastructure and system issues.
Collaborate with IT leadership to define infrastructure strategy, capacity planning, and modernization initiatives.
Mentor junior administrators and ensure operational standards and documentation are maintained.
Participate in on‑call rotation and perform after‑hours maintenance as required.
