LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Sr. Design Engineer to join our client's organization in the Schaumburg, IL area.

A leading provider of environmental enclosure solutions is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead program-level designs and prototype fabrications for complex enclosure solutions that protect critical infrastructure in telecommunications, EV, battery storage, and data center markets. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment with 5–6 customized projects daily and shorter sales cycles, offering the chance to make a direct impact on innovative product development.

Responsibilities

Lead projects from concept through launch, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously

Prepare and release design packages, drawings, and bills of material for manufacturing

Develop requirements and analyze product design data for conformance to criteria and cost targets

Maintain and upgrade existing products, including executing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)

Establish test plans and execute 3rd party certifications

Lead the development and testing of prototypes for new product ideas and create product specifications

Identify non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and redesign products

Assist with other duties as required

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in General or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)

7+ years of product development experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience with sheet metal required; plastic and composite experience desired

Minimum 5 years of CREO/Windchill experience preferred; other 3D CAD systems considered

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment a plus

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills

Excellent communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Knowledge of MS Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite

Familiarity with regulatory/testing agencies (UL, CEC, ASTM, IEC, CE, RoHS) is a plus
