(AMWA) is seeking an experienced
Volunteer Grant Writer
to help us grow our mission of promoting Mental Wellness and early intervention across the nation. This is a flexible, remote opportunity ideal for someone who is passionate about mental health advocacy and wants to make a direct impact through their writing and research skills. About Us AMWA is a national non-profit dedicated to the
prevention, early intervention, scientific research, and treatment
of mental health problems. We believe that Mental Wellness is for everyone, and we work to eliminate stigma, educate communities, and support holistic approaches to mental well-being. Learn more at americanmentalwellness.org. Role Overview We are looking for a self-motivated volunteer to take the lead on grant research and writing. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and provide regular updates to the board. This role is mostly independent, but you’ll be part of a small, passionate team focused on making a difference. Responsibilities Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources Draft compelling, mission-aligned grant proposals and letters of inquiry Maintain a calendar of submission deadlines and reporting requirements Collaborate with the Executive Director to gather necessary organizational data and impact metrics Track submissions, awards, and funding cycles for internal reporting Create templates and potentially assist in training future grant writing volunteers What We’re Looking For Prior experience in grant writing for nonprofits a plus Strong research, writing, and organizational skills Familiarity with mental health topics a plus Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Microsoft 365 Ability to work independently and communicate professionally with leadership Time Commitment Flexible hours, estimated at 3-5 hours per week (depending on availability and active grant opportunities). This role is fully remote and can be adjusted around your schedule. Why Volunteer with AMWA?
