We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain enterprise-level network solutions supporting critical Department of Defense (DoD) missions. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in complex network architecture, federal compliance standards, and thrives in high-stakes environments where precision and security are non-negotiable. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement full-scale network solutions including routers, switches, TACLANEs, F5 Load Balancers, VPNs, DHCP, IP Management, and firewalls. • Oversee installation, configuration, and optimization of network equipment to meet mission requirements. • Ensure compliance with DoD security policies, protocols, and accreditation standards (802.1x, STIGs, SRGs, RMF, DoD 8500 series). • Collaborate with system engineers, project managers, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders to deliver successful projects. • Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams (Visio), configurations, baselines, and operational procedures. • Conduct rigorous testing of network systems for functionality, performance, and security compliance. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues arising during deployment, integration, or testing. • Support procurement processes by evaluating, sourcing, and recommending network hardware/software solutions. • Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance, applying best practices in administration and security. Basic Qualifications • Strong knowledge of OSI Layers 1–4, networking protocols, and design principles. • Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies (Catalyst Center/DNAC, Identity Services Engine). • Proficient with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and load balancer setup/management. • Skilled in routing, switching, network administration, and network security practices. • Familiarity with RSA Authentication, VPNs, and distributed traffic optimization. • Experience in network monitoring, testing, and performance tuning. • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams and clients. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree + 8 years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree). • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance. • Active CompTIA Security+ or CCNP Security (8140 compliance). • Active CCNA Certification (8140 compliance). • Strong background in enterprise network architecture design and documentation. • Deep understanding of cybersecurity practices, risk management, and continuity of operations/disaster recovery (COOP/DR). • Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN). • Proven ability to independently deliver high-impact technical solutions. • Prior experience in federal/DoD/regulated environments, especially at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), or Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB).
