Location:

Alexandria, VA (100% onsite; no remote work)

Security Clearance:

Minimum Secret clearance with later upgrade to TS SCI required.

Overview Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Senior Network Engineer for an existing government client. The selected individual will join a collaborative team environment and support project objectives, quality control, and coordination of efforts to deliver projects according to plan. Key to success is effective communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to the client, including identity management system interface troubleshooting.

Provide periodic 24/7 on‑call support.

Demonstrate understanding of WAN/LAN infrastructures, telecommunications concepts, network layers, design, protocols, and encryption.

Support semi‑complex testing and troubleshooting in a variety of engineering tasks.

Troubleshoot system malfunctions with end users, including installation technicians.

Communicate with on‑site personnel to evaluate and resolve system malfunctions.

Generate system application reports based on provided requirements and parameters.

Provide semi‑complex design, development, testing, and modification of solutions, including material specification and schematic preparation.

Qualifications

Post‑secondary education and/or combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 5 years experience in Network Administration and Engineering.

Experience with Network Security Protocols, Active Directory, and associated hardware.

Knowledge of networking fundamentals, basic router and switch configuration, and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of applicable government standards and guidelines for electronic security systems, anti‑terrorism/force protection.

Knowledge of physical security automated access control applications.

Knowledge of automated workflow ticketing systems, preferably Maximo.

Certifications are a plus.

Cisco experience with routers, encryption devices, switches, and networking protocols or related security disciplines.

U.S. citizen, subject to government security investigation; minimum Secret clearance with upgrade to TS SCI required.

Capable of processing, interpreting, and resolving complex technical access control issues.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with little to no oversight and independently.
