Financial Controller
Base pay range: $150,000 – $180,000 per year.
Overview Oversee and manage all accounting, grant accounting functions, purchasing operations, and supervise associated staff. Supports operational and programmatic teams in Global Operations Accounting, Compliance, Financial Accounting, Payroll, Time Accounting, Travel Expense Reporting, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable.
Key Responsibilities
Lead monthly book close by the 6th workday, including variance analyses and preparation of month‑end financials.
Maintain a reconciled balance sheet and associated accounts.
Ensure proper revenue recognition and track grant funding from all sources.
Prepare monthly profit & loss (P&L) and cash forecasts.
Supervise grant accounting to ensure financial compliance with grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements, including adherence to donor requirements such as USAID.
Support compliance initiatives in partnership with the Office of Contracts and Grants.
Serve as liaison with independent accountants for annual audits, including timely preparation of Uniform Guidance and 2 CFR 200 audits.
Partner with leadership on annual tax filings (e.g., Form 990, 990T).
Ensure internal accounting and administrative controls align with GAAP and internal policies; develop and implement internal controls and policies to safeguard assets.
Provide guidance and financial oversight to finance leaders in field offices.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve financial issues and support business objectives.
Oversee budgeting, risk management, and financial analysis functions; perform benchmarking analyses and maintain best practice standards.
Manage the organization’s investment portfolio under the direction of senior leadership.
Drive continuous improvement in financial operations, including system upgrades and enhancements.
Direct and supervise purchasing operations and associated staff.
Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and maintain compliance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements – Proactive leader with strong background in financial management, compliance, and operations.
