Position Summary:

In this role, you will work alongside a Browne Consulting Controller to support four to six clients simultaneously. You will become a key member of each client’s fast-growing organization, where you will learn and understand their business model, all while being the accounting expert that they rely on. Clients count on our team to help develop financial controls and procedures, manage the accounting, finance, and HR aspects of their evolving companies as well as support and advise as they scale from seed stage through Series A and beyond. The Senior Accountant has the aptitude and desire to advance to Accounting Manager and eventually to Controller.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and record monthly journal entries with required supporting documentation

Prepare the monthly close binder for review, including monthly general ledger account reconciliations ensuring balances are appropriately supported

Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts and credit card statements

Assist with audit preparation by organizing financial records and providing appropriate documentation

Participate in budgeting process by preparing budget vs. actuals and quarterly flux analysis

Manage cash, fixed assets and depreciation, prepaid expenses, AP schedules, accruals, payroll-related schedules (i.e., payroll reconciliation), and allocation schedules

Support accounts payable processes by entering invoices, reviewing and reconciling accounts payable ledger, and performing PO reconciliations

Assist in the preparation of all federal, state, and local tax filings and ensure timely submission

Process payroll, which includes onboarding new employees, maintaining comprehensive and organized employee records, and preparing the payroll master data file and the payroll flux analysis

Prepare financial statements for investor and GAAP reporting

Assist with specific projects and initiatives such as system implementations and business process improvements

Continually learn and take on new areas of responsibility to increase depth of knowledge

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, MBA or advanced degree would be a plus

CPA completed or desire to complete in the future

2+ years of Big 4 or regional public accounting audit experience

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with clients and coworkers

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Desire to work with life science companies
