Position Overview
The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s financial health, accounting processes, budgeting, compliance, and general administration. This individual will provide strategic financial leadership and ensure operational efficiency, playing a key role in organizational growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Lead the financial planning and analysis process, including developing the annual budget and forecasting.
Prepare and oversee financial statements, ensuring they comply with regulatory requirements.
Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk to ensure liquidity and sustainability.
Ensure the timely preparation and submission of tax filings and other regulatory documents.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure sound financial control and compliance with laws and regulations.
Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting systems.
Strategic Planning and Advisory:
Advise the executive leadership team on financial strategies, risks, and opportunities.
Provide financial insights to guide long-term organizational planning and decision-making.
Analyze and report on financial performance to stakeholders and board members.
Administration and Operations:
Oversee administrative functions, including human resources, IT, facilities management, and office services.
Ensure operational efficiency by continuously improving administrative processes.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement processes.
Support the hiring, training, and development of administrative staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and supervise finance and administration teams.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment between financial goals and operational objectives.
Drive continuous improvement within the finance and administrative functions.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 8-10 years in finance and administration, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role. Non‑profit experience required.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Experience with financial modeling and analysis.
Proficient in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, RAMP, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions
Full-time position, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
Hybrid, remote and in-person.
