Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi‑campus college located in scenic Upstate New York. It offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). HVCC is a leading institution in career and transfer preparation, workforce training, distance learning, and service to a diverse student population. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, with at least five (5) years in senior leadership or managerial capacity.
Expertise in IT governance, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and strategic planning.
Demonstrated success in overseeing IT operations, managing infrastructure, and leading cross‑functional teams.
Broad technical knowledge of modern information systems, enterprise platforms, and emerging technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or MBA with a bachelor's in a technology‑related discipline.
Ten (10) or more years of professional experience, including substantial leadership of complex IT organizations.
Experience in higher education, particularly with public institutions or community colleges.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, faculty, and staff in a post‑secondary educational environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of the College’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and data centers.
Serve as an ex‑officio member of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT); maintain compliance with data security requirements and best practices.
Lead the planning and execution of major IT projects and long‑range strategies aligned with institutional goals.
Oversee the administration and continuous improvement of instructional and administrative technology systems to support teaching, learning, and operations.
Provide detailed recommendations to senior leadership for acquiring and implementing instructional and administrative technologies based on user needs.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for academic and administrative support.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and external technology vendors to advance innovation and service.
Communicate clearly and proactively about IT initiatives, changes, and support resources.
Supervise and mentor IT personnel, fostering professional growth, training, and team performance.
Actively participate in campus committees and strategic planning initiatives related to technology.
Maintain expertise in current and emerging technologies, particularly as they apply to higher education.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a full‑time 12‑month, management‑confidential position with a salary range of $110,000 to $130,000.
