Lead Hardware Reliability Engineer (Starlink Aviation) Lead the Starlink Aviation team in ensuring the reliability and quality of the aviation product through design, manufacturing, test, and flight. You will manage a small group of engineers and specialists, conduct root‑cause analysis of failures, develop tools and metrics for reliability, and collaborate across disciplines to continuously improve product performance.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, technicians, and specialists focused on end‑to‑end hardware reliability for Starlink Aviation.

Develop the team by enabling opportunities suited to each member that align with the strategic goals of the Starlink Aviation program.

Investigate hardware failures and anomalies in test, production, and the fleet, identify and mitigate root causes, and ensure timely escalation and resolution.

Ensure long‑term product reliability, set design requirements, and meet certification body reliability expectations.

Create tools and metrics to monitor hardware performance in the fleet and use data to drive reliability improvements.

Manage configuration, change, and risk management to enable highly reliable hardware.

Operate Starlink Aviation returns, root‑cause return analyses, and implement design improvements based on data and feedback.

Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines, customers, and production to maximize reliability across all areas.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

3+ years of experience in a reliability, manufacturing, quality, test, and/or design engineering role.

1+ years of experience leading an engineering team.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Master's degree in an engineering discipline.

3+ years of experience leading engineering teams (5+ members).

Demonstrated experience training and mentoring junior engineers.

Experience working in a highly adaptive and iterative environment.

Strong influence and communication skills across organizations.

Ability to effectively organize, assign, and track work, and define scope of work independently.

Experience with production process improvement for rate and quality.

Root‑cause analysis of PCB, PCBA, and electromechanical assemblies.

Working experience in ISO9001/AS9100 or equivalent quality system.

Knowledge of Lean, measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, SPC, PFMEA, control plans, and related problem‑solving tools.

Additional Requirements

Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.

This role is based in Woodinville, WA and must be onsite; remote work will not be considered.

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Compensation and Benefits Hardware Reliability Engineer / Lead:

$125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year.
