is seeking a dynamic

Engineering Director

to lead a talented, multidisciplinary team developing next- maritime systems—from autonomous underwater vehicles to advanced sensing technologies. Your leadership will directly shape the capabilities that protect U.S. interests and define the future of maritime innovation.

This is more than a management role—it's a hands-on opportunity to mentor top engineering talent, drive technical excellence, and make a tangible impact on security and global maritime operations.

What You’ll Do:

Provide

daily in-person senior guidance

at Leidos' Lynnwood and Poulsbo, WA facilities.

Lead and support a distributed engineering team, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and collaboration.

Serve as a key liaison between engineers, program managers, and business leaders.

Drive continuous improvement in engineering tools, processes, and technical solutions.

Guide the strategic development of engineering initiatives aligned with business goals—ranging from proposal development to process optimization.

Practice servant leadership—supporting team growth, resource planning, and strategic execution.

Deliver direct technical support to customers through robust engineering solutions and process rigor.

Play an active role in business development, capture strategy, customer engagement, and executive-level briefings.

Oversee engineering resource allocation to ensure successful program execution.

Support the

Sea Systems Business Area Chief Engineer

on cross-portfolio initiatives as needed.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical/Ocean Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

20+ years

of experience leading engineering programs involving complex software and electro-mechanical systems.

10+ years

as a functional manager of distributed engineering teams with direct reports.

15+ years

in customer-facing technical leadership roles within defense or maritime environments.

Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and retain engineering talent.

Deep understanding of DoD program support, including requirements management and systems design.

Proven experience improving engineering processes, procedures, and performance standards.

US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications:

Current or former

Solutions Architect

role.

10+ years

leading subsea maritime systems design and integration.

Experience with C4ISR, AUVs, ASVs, payload systems, or deployed subsea platforms.

Working knowledge of

ISO 9001:2015

standards.

Experience transitioning designs into production/manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with:

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), especially

SysML

Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)

Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), Risk Management, and Configuration Management

DoD contract deliverables (CDRLs) involving hardware, software, test support, and documentation

Capture and proposal experience including:

Gate reviews

BOE (Basis of Estimate)

Technical volume authorship

Preliminary architecture and solutioning

Pay Range: Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
