Stoltzfus Meats
The Sanitation Worker plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and food safety of all areas within our meat production and processing facility. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, work areas, and common spaces to meet company standards and USDA food safety regulations. The Sanitation Worker helps maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant environment that supports daily production operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize production areas, equipment, tools, and floors in accordance with company policies, USDA regulations, and sanitation schedules.
Disassemble, clean, and reassemble processing equipment safely and completely to ensure all product contact surfaces are sanitized.
Use approved cleaning chemicals and sanitizers, following all safety data sheet (SDS) instructions and chemical handling protocols.
Clean drains, walls, floors, and other facility surfaces to maintain hygienic conditions throughout the plant.
Perform pre-operational inspections to verify cleanliness and readiness for production start-up.
Properly dispose of waste and by-products in accordance with company and environmental standards.
Maintain accurate sanitation and cleaning records as required for regulatory compliance.
Report maintenance issues, unsafe conditions, or potential contamination risks immediately to the supervisor.
Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety policies.
Assist with periodic deep cleaning, seasonal sanitation projects, and audit preparation as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior sanitation experience in a USDA-inspected meat processing or food manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Familiarity with HACCP principles, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) is a plus.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, including sanitation checklists and chemical handling procedures.
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and quality standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely.
Comfortable working in cold, wet, and humid environments typical of a meat processing facility.
Ability to safely handle cleaning tools, equipment, and chemical solutions.
