Communications Coordinator, Alumni Engagement – Development & Alumni Relations Boston University Advancement is seeking a Communications Coordinator to increase alumni engagement through email and digital content. The role reports to the Senior Associate Director of Digital Strategy and collaborates with advancement, marketing, and campus partners to support the AU alumni community of more than 350,000 worldwide.

Responsibilities

Build, edit, and troubleshoot broadcast emails using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and other approved platforms, applying basic HTML for device and platform consistency.

Manage a large portfolio of email projects from conception to deployment, including testing, copy editing, and brand‐aligned content verification.

Plan, write, and edit blog posts for the BU Alumni & Friends website, coordinating with freelancers and student employees to maintain a cohesive brand voice.

Track project progress, communicate status to stakeholders, and adjust priorities to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Hire, supervise, and mentor student and intern employees supporting editorial and email projects, providing feedback and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field; or equivalent education, certifications, and experience in digital communications.

One to three years of relevant experience in email marketing, content creation, or digital communications.

Strong writing and editing skills adaptable to email, blog, and web platforms.

Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp, or Constant Contact.

Knowledge of website CMS such as WordPress and basic web design principles.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while collaborating with diverse colleagues.

Experience with or supervising student employees, interns, or volunteers.

Desirable: experience with digital marketing analytics.
