The Director of Finance & Business Services manages key executive and leadership tasks related to fiscal sponsorship, business development, and financial systems for the finance & business services (FBS) Department for Global Impact. Director of Finance & Business Services serves as backup to Managing Director.
Responsibilities
Assist Managing Director with development of annual budget and interim projections
Provide daily support to team with finance systems access, transaction approvals, and general inquiries
Oversee, coordinate, and manage all aspects of the annual audit and 990 schedules related to FBS operations
Oversee implementation(s) of new financial and tracking software platforms
Serve as backup for overflow of client-to-staff assignment capacity
Work with legal, audit, GISWF leadership and compliance teams to ensure accounting, data collection, and reporting related to C3 lobbying are compliant with state and federal requirements
Provide oversight and supervision of assigned Accounting Managers
Work with Managing Director to monitor staff capacity and plan for staff expansions
Work with HR to recruit, interview, coordinate, and onboard new hires
Play facilitative role with full team and assist with regular meeting agendas, training opportunities, and planning semi-annual team retreat
Work with Business Development and Fiscal Sponsor Specialist to review, identify, and schedule meetings with viable prospects
Serve as liaison between departments to coordinate appropriate services
Assist with development, review, and finalizing project proposals
Serve as key contact for onboarding new clients including systems set up, team assignments, and initial orientation
Qualifications Qualifying for this role means you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and leadership roles. You have nonprofit management experience and a demonstrated ability to lead projects from start to completion, manage numerous clients and client relationships, and oversee staff. You possess a great customer service attitude and can build relationships with all organization stakeholders. With excellent attention to detail, you are able to identify problems quickly and work through resolutions either independently or with a team. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office products (including advanced Excel skills).

Working at Global Impact This is a full-time position and may be fully remote, with travel to headquarters in Washington, DC, for team meetings on occasion. Local employees are in a hybrid work model, with 1-4 days per month in our Washington, DC, headquarters office. Visa sponsorship is not available.

The salary range is $140,000 – $150,000 depending on the experience you bring. On top of the competitive salary that we are offering, you’ll receive 16 paid holidays and 25 paid days off.
