Boston University Undergraduate Admissions seeks an Assistant Director of Visitor Experience. The Assistant Director’s primary responsibility is managing the visitor experience for Boston University’s Admissions office at the Alan and Sherry Leventhal Center. This position hires, trains, and manages up to 30 student employees per semester alongside the Senior Assistant Director for Visitor Experience. The Assistant Director will provide customer service support to visiting students and guests, as well as manage the daily logistics at the Visitor Center. The Assistant Director will also present about Boston University in information sessions, answer questions about university programming and the admissions process. This role does not require travel, but evening and weekend work is required. During the academic year, there are up to three days of evening meetings/events per month and up to two weekend days per month for managing the center for weekend programming.
The Assistant Director works closely with other admissions staff to execute programming and collaborates internally with Dining Services, Facilities, Student Employment, Parking Services, and academic departments. The role also works with many high schools and community-based organizations who schedule group visits to campus. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Assistant Director of Visitor Experience.
Primary duties include:
Providing customer service assistance in person and over the phone to prospective students and their families visiting Boston University’s campus.
Managing shifts at the front desk at the Visitor Center.
Hiring, training, and managing 30 Student Admissions Representatives.
Assisting with management of 30 Scarlet Speakers, at least 100 tour guides, and 24 full‑time summer Student Admissions Representatives.
Overseeing the group visit program and logistics, triaging requests, communicating with group leaders, and scheduling staff for approved visits.
Handling daily operational logistics and administrative tasks, including student payroll, management of office inventory, and accessibility requests as needed.

Required skills and qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree.
1–3 years of directly related experience.
Strong public speaking and excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience working with undergraduate students.
Self‑motivated independent worker who works well as part of a team.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Detail‑oriented.
