Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in Swift, Objective‑C, or C++ programming languages.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large‑scale application design and architecture.
3 years of experience with iOS application development.
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience with AVFoundation, specializing in high‑performance video playback and compositing pipelines.

The Photos’ Creative Expression team’s goal is to empower our users with simple tools to express themselves creatively. We build the photo, video, and movie editors in Google Photos and are embarking on new journeys to allow users to create and edit their content. The team focuses on bringing Google’s Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and computational photography technologies to Photos and delivering a reliable and delightful editing experience for Photos’ 1.5 billion users.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google’s various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first‑party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user’s interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $166,000‑$244,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The salary range is determined by role, level, location, and experience. Additional benefits and detailed compensation information can be discussed with a recruiter.
Responsibilities
Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, code check‑in, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product or program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
