Mara is building a horde of small, autonomous robots to defend the free world. Our first product, Spike, is a portable
counter-drone swarm that stops deadly drone attacks .
We are looking for non-stop builders with a need to be challenged beyond their capabilities daily. If you can’t wait to contribute to the defense of human liberty, apply.
As a
Wargamer
at Mara, you will be responsible for building and maintaining our simulation infrastructure that trains, validates, and deploys our robots. You'll work with NVIDIA Isaac Sim and other simulation platforms to create high-fidelity environments where our ML models and control systems can iterate at scale. This role involves working closely with ML engineers, robotics software engineers, and controls engineers on a regular basis.
Key Skills You must be stellar at:
Open and direct communication, whether it's writing up issues, codebase documentation, or face-to-face feedback during a 1:1
Independently learning new technical skills to unblock yourself mid-build
Architecting simulation systems that serve multiple stakeholders (ML training, control validation, end-to-end testing)
And completely comfortable with:
NVIDIA Isaac Sim as your primary simulation environment
Building custom tools, APIs, and plugins that extend the engine
Physics simulation, sensor simulation, and rendering at production scale
Python and C++ for automation and engine extensions
Real-time performance optimization in simulation
Sim2Real workflows: closing the gap between simulation and real hardware
Managing simulation datasets and training pipelines
Spotlessly documenting simulation architecture and tooling
Bonus Points for:
Experience with multiple game engines or simulation platforms
GPU-accelerated simulation or differentiable simulation
Personal projects involving UAVs, ML, or robotics
Open source contributions to simulation or robotics projects
General awareness of cybersecurity concepts
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, or equivalent robotics simulation platform
(optional) A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Responsibilities
Building and optimizing simulation environments for training and validation
Extending Isaac Sim with custom tools, sensor models, and domain-specific plugins
Developing automation pipelines for data generation and model evaluation
Collaborating with ML and controls engineers on sim requirements
Identifying and closing Sim2Real gaps through iteration and testing
Building lightweight internal tools to support engineering workflows
Documenting simulation architecture, data formats, and best practices
Periodically assisting with real world testing efforts (may involve travel)
Mara is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We will always hire folks from any and every background and lived experience, because we know that’s how the strongest teams in the world are built. Empowerment, equity, and liberation bring strength, resilience, and growth; which is why we believe in the vigorous defense and continuous improvement of the free nations of the world.
Folks of all genders and creeds who are Black, Indigenous, people of color, queer, trans, non-binary, disabled, parents, immigrants, and anyone who has experienced systemic oppression are encouraged to apply.
