Considering a Head of English As Head of English you will lead a dynamic team of educators to inspire a love of language, literature and literacy across Years 7–12.
You will drive excellence in teaching and learning, champion concept‑based curriculum design across campuses, and ensure the highest standards of educational practice in English at Ivanhoe Grammar School.
What You Will Do You will play a strategic and operational leadership role, ensuring quality, coherence and innovation in English and Literacy across the schools’ campuses.
Working closely with the Director of Academic Learning, you will collaborate with curriculum leaders and teachers to implement a concept‑based curriculum that aligns with the school’s vision for a contemporary, globally relevant education.
In This Role You Will
Lead the design and delivery of engaging, concept‑based English and Literacy programmes across Years 7–12.
Embed the Ivanhoe Instructional Model and evidence‑informed practice to ensure consistency and excellence across campuses.
Drive Middle Years literacy development through explicit instruction and targeted pedagogical strategies.
Foster collaboration, mentoring and professional growth within the English team, building collective capacity and teacher impact.
Use data, research and feedback to evaluate teaching practice and enhance student learning outcomes.
Ensure alignment in assessment, reporting and curriculum documentation in accordance with School policy.
Represent English in academic, community and professional forums, contributing to Ivanhoe Grammar’s reputation for excellence.

Lead strategically and collaboratively, uniting campuses around a shared vision for English and Literacy.
Hold current VIT registration and demonstrate significant VCE teaching experience.
Model outstanding classroom practice and mentor others in evidence‑based pedagogy and curriculum innovation.
Understand and support the principles of the IB Diploma Programme (knowledge advantageous but not essential).
Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Uphold the highest standards of child safety, compliance and professional conduct.
Embrace innovation, feedback and professional learning with a growth mindset.
