Manufacturing Engineer, Hardware Engineering Services - Manufacturing
Amazon Web Services’ Hardware Engineering team is looking for experienced Manufacturing Engineers to build the world’s premier cloud computing platform. The role requires operating in a fast‑paced, multi‑platform international manufacturing and production environment, working closely with ODMs, CMs, internal AWS hardware and software development teams, and upstream component vendors to monitor and improve incoming hardware quality for AWS products.
Key Responsibilities
Manage quality at CMs, ODMs, and vendors
Provide on‑site support for new product launches
Design for quality and manufacturability on new PCBA, servers, and racks
Root cause customer‑impacting issues and drive resolution
Travel domestically and internationally (25%–50%)
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with PCBA manufacturing, assembly, or test processes
3+ years working with PCBA manufacturing suppliers (ODMs/CMs) to improve incoming quality of electronic assemblies
Experience with SMT, through‑hole assembly processes, and PCBA manufacturing and test methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
Project management experience for technical projects
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement principles & techniques
Knowledge of ISO, IEC, or regulatory requirements or standards
Experience with server, networking, or cloud infrastructure PCBA manufacturing and testing
Knowledge of motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stack‑up, and circuit board layout
Experience with automated test equipment (ATE), in‑circuit test (ICT), functional test, and boundary scan technologies
Experience with failure analysis techniques and root cause analysis for PCBA‑related issues
Knowledge of component engineering and supplier quality processes
Experience in regulated environments with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100)
Compensation & Benefits Base pay ranges from $125,700 to $219,900 per year depending on geographic market. AWS offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, equity, sign‑on incentives, and other forms of compensation.
