We are a mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Jacksonville, Florida, dedicated to empowering and uplifting girls and young women through education, mentorship, and community programs. We are seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable Staff Accountant to support our financial operations within a small, collaborative office.
This role manages day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping, supports grant tracking and compliance, and assists with financial reporting, budgeting, and audits. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a dynamic, hands-on environment where accuracy, collaboration, and shared purpose matter.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including month-end closing entries
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly and annual reports
Process accounts payable and receivable, review invoices and expense reports for accuracy and authorization
Processes bi-weekly payroll and assist with occasional HR-related tasks
Track restricted and unrestricted funds, monitor grant activity for compliance
Assist Senior Management with budget preparation, cash flow management, and financial forecasting
Support the annual audit process, including preparation of 1099s, Form 990 materials, and compliance with state and federal regulations
Provide occasional administrative and operational support typical of a small office environment
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit accounting preferred
Experience with project accounting and tracking restricted funds a plus
Skills:
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality
Flexible, collaborative, and willing to support broader team operations
