Controller
We are seeking a seasoned Controller with experience working in the nonprofit field. The Controller reports to the Director of Accounting and Finance and will provide oversight of finance, accounting and reporting activities. The position will lead day‑to‑day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members, including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. The Controller ensures that SRO Housing Corporation has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The role works closely with program leaders and their staffs, educating them on finance and accounting procedures and exploring how the finance function can support program operations.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily finance operations and supervise accounting staff.
Develop and maintain accounting systems, procedures and internal controls.
Prepare financial statements, budgets, and program reports.
Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
Educate program leaders on finance and accounting procedures.
Collaborate with program leaders to align finance with program objectives.
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum bachelor’s degree; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
Computer Literacy:
Proficiency with YARDI Voyager, MS Office 365, advanced Excel skills.
Experience:
3–5 years in nonprofit financial management or similar.
Other:
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
