As a

Systems Developer II , you will support or may lead full-stack infrastructure architecture and design; identify, scope, architect, and deliver moderately complex solutions; and suggest solutions. You will assist in research and fact-finding to modify or enhance systems and applications, end-to-end system integration, stabilization, and production support transition.

About The Team

The

Digital Technology Warehouse Management and Fulfillment Systems Team

is directly responsible for modernizing H-E-B's supply‑chain system's capabilities by optimizing the implementation and support of the Manhattan Associates MAWM platform across H-E-B's extensive network of warehouses and automated e‑Commerce fulfillment centers, leveraging cloud‑native architectures and robust networking infrastructure. Our partners thrive the H-E-B Way. Due to the large scale and extended duration of our modernization efforts, we have multiple positions available in the Systems Developer job family at varying levels of seniority. Available positions range from production support to design, development of custom extensions, configuration, testing, and implementation of new sites or new features across hybrid cloud environments.

What is your background?

A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience

2+ years of experience configuring, enhancing, and maintaining COTS/SaaS products

Areas of Focus

Works on defined technology projects/tasks under occasional guidance and direction of other developers

Provides support to less-experienced developers on techniques, processes, and new technologies

Independently takes advantage of opportunities for continued development; takes initiative to stay ahead of new technologies, skills, and processes

Remains current on new and emerging technologies and vendor solutions, learning from senior developers

Works with team to understand roadmaps and priorities, and to deliver upon them accordingly; able to manage appropriate amount of independent work

Understands domain‑specific industry best practices and standards shared by Sr. Developers; able to apply that knowledge to process and technology improvements at H‑E‑B

Awareness of COTS/SaaS vendor functional/technical roadmaps

Begins to independently identify gaps/opportunities to leverage technology to improve processes and efficiencies

Development & Support

Assists with implementation, end-to-end system integration, stabilization, and production support transition

Reviews functional design/requirements to identify and recommend technical risks and obstacles

May assist with proposed COTS, SaaS, and cloud‑based solution technical reviews

With guidance, provide accurate duration/effort estimates; ensure technical teams stay on track, on schedule, and on budget

Supports efforts in system development and maintenance, ensuring optimal use of resources

May engage/collaborate with Foundational Technology teams to ensure timely, high‑quality solutions; may engage with shared services teams and vendors

Knowledge of cloud platforms (Oracle, or Google Cloud) and cloud architecture patterns

Understand networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPN technologies

Assists and begins to independently support test planning/test case development, and testing

Remains available to provide support during escalation of incidents; assists with activities to permanently address root causes of recurring issues

Supports the proactive implementation of automated system monitoring and alerting solutions; may identify engineering tools that facilitate systems management

Continues to expand on knowledge of the technical stack and knowledgeable/capable of supporting specific areas of the technical stack. Continues to expand on knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, database operations/efficiency/tuning and SQL

Continues to expand on working knowledge of proprietary languages/frameworks (examples: X++, Ladder Logic, MA ProActive)

Continues to expand proficiency on multiple languages, technologies, frameworks, and general software development concepts/trends/best practices and can quickly onboard to projects in minimal time

Develops/implements small to medium domain‑specific applications to fill gaps between large COTS systems; design system funnels to route analytical data for reporting

Creates technical documentation/training for system enhancements and test scenarios

Understanding and awareness of technical debt and supports in efforts to minimize where possible

Assists with plans to keep tech sustainment items current and supported; able to learn evolving industry best practices

Effectively engages in technical conversations with business/stakeholders, vendors, cross‑functional and supporting teams across H‑E‑B

Do you have what it takes to be an H‑E‑B Systems Developer II?

Experience configuring, enhancing, and maintaining COTS/SaaS products

Warehouse Management System experience (Manhattan and Swisslog systems a plus)

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Oracle, or Google Cloud) and cloud architecture patterns

Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPN technologies

Knowledge of a given system's technical sustainment factors, and the maintenance and support plan for them

Knowledge of how systems integrate beyond your scope of responsibility

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills

Ownership mentality, and a consistent track record of successful, high‑quality results

Manhattan Technical/Functional Consultant experience
