Role Description Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage professionals with advanced expertise in web design, visual aesthetics, and user experience. This full-time opportunity invites creative designers and front-end professionals to help train and refine next-generation AI systems that understand and generate visually compelling, functional, and user-friendly web interfaces. Your contributions will shape how AI learns modern web design principles, empowering users to create exceptional digital experiences across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Use proprietary tools to label, annotate, and evaluate AI-generated web layouts, components, and visual elements.
Review and refine AI outputs to ensure aesthetic appeal, clarity, and functional design.
Collaborate with technical teams to design and improve annotation workflows related to layout, typography, color, and interaction design.
Provide feedback on AI-generated designs to enhance responsiveness, usability, and modern web standards.
Apply current design trends and best practices to guide AI development in user interface and experience design.
Support continuous improvement of internal tools and processes that enhance workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field
1–2 years of professional experience in web design or a related creative discipline
Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design taste, layout precision, and user experience insight
Deep understanding of color theory, typography, visual hierarchy, and responsive design principles
Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and creative problem-solving ability
Commitment to advancing AI capabilities in design and digital aesthetics
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in UI/UX design, front-end development, or creative roles at design or technology companies
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and interaction design fundamentals
Work Environment
Full-time position based in Palo Alto, CA, or fully remote
On-site roles require presence five days per week; remote roles require strong self-motivation
Initial schedule: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. PST for the first two weeks; then align with your local timezone
For remote professionals using a personal device, your computer must be a Chromebook, a Mac running macOS 11.0 or later, or a Windows 10 or newer system
Reliable smartphone access required
U.S.-based applicants must reside outside of Wyoming and Illinois

Competitive pay ranging from $90,000 to $200,000 annually for U.S.-based professionals, depending on experience and location
International pay ranges are provided based on location and experience
